Recently I’ve started to recognise a pattern of mine: I get a certain obsession - could be an opinion, an idea or something completely different - and bother everyone around me with it. I spend a lot of time debating the very premise of the opinion with friends, and never take the time to fully flesh the ideas out. Finally, the opinion is forgotten and abandoned since a new opinion takes over in my head.
That’s when I realised that I need an outlet where I’m forced to fully think my ideas through and commit to them. This is the perfect use case for a blog. I can write whatever I like. Nobody has to read it unless they really want to. I’m forced to take some form of accountability for my writing.
First off, I need to establish some rules for myself.
I may
- edit typos.
- edit wordings without altering the sentiment of the post.
- add extra sections afterwards if I have any further reflections.
- create follow-up posts if I change my mind.
- use LLMs to proofread my posts.
I may NOT
- remove posts.
- make major edits to the post if I change my opinion. That should be in an extra section instead.
- use LLMs to write my posts.
Let’s see if I actually manage to post here or if this blog is just the manifestation of another one of my obsessions which I later abandon.
